Creating Jacob

In March of 2016 I set out to create a short and straightforward personal film sharing the story of my mother’s experience with infertility, pregnancy loss, and stillbirth. I planned to spend a few afternoons and weekends shooting and editing, but what I first envisioned as a 3-minute piece focused on my mother’s tale led me to places and people I never imagined. Nine months and countless interviews and stories later, I present to you my first short documentary, ‘Jacob’. Anchored to one woman’s story, it explores the cultural implications surrounding infertility and pregnancy and infant loss. Where it all began After giving …

Our Deepest Fear: A Personal Piece

A FEW NIGHTS AGO, SABRINA AND I TOOK OFF TO A LOCAL SCHOOL TO SHOOT SOME FUN LIFESTYLE PHOTOS FOR A FASHION SHOOT WHEN A STORM ROLLED IN. We took refuge in the car, and that’s when inspiration struck. I ended up creating this video, inspired by the following quote: Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does …

CO2 – Director’s Cut

Sometimes you have a bunch of footage and a vision, well after the project is completed. I’ve wanted to try out a few simple editing techniques that I have ignored over the years, and I figured that my CO2 footage would be a good start. I’ve always been a fan of reverse camera work, quick edits, and matching frame, but I often neglect it myself. Here is a director’s cut of the CO2 brand work, featuring some editing tricks.

CO2 Brand Teaser

I’ve been working with professional football player Chad Owens over the past few months to help launch his personal brand. With the help of John Challinor and Zachary Scholtz, I directed this brand teaser to help launch the countdown at Thanks to Zak for grabbing these behind the scenes snaps at Tim Hortons field in Hamilton!

Office Sessions Episode Two: Kaitlyn Batista

We completed the second episode of our Office Sessions project. This month features singer-songwriter Kaitlyn Batista, who killed it with this original song. We were super impressed by her talent and I’m looking forward to seeing where her career takes here. Check out more at

Eleven Dreams: An Experimental Micro Film

On Wednesday January 20th, I met up with three of my closest creative pals to collaborate on a small film project. Sabrina Smelko, Zak Scholtz and John Challinor helped me create Eleven Dreams, a short concept film that allowed us all to test some techniques we wanted to play with. We had the goal of playing with pockets of light and low exposure, to test a continuous take sequence, and to play with reversed footage. We were also really interested in seeing how far we could push the stedicam in some tight spots. We came up with a concept and storyboards …

Hamilton Portrait Photography – The Vaudevillian

I had the pleasure of working with the very talented Vaudevillian and his sidekick Norah Spades. They stopped by the studio in Hamilton to discuss collaborative projects, music and their wild adventure in New Orleans. Looking forward to sharing more about this group!

Out and About with the Canon 135mm

A day off means that I’m probably snapping photos of my lovely partner Sabrina or crazy pup Piper. One mild(er) January day we walked around Milton and I decided to switch up my usual go to lens (50mm) for my 135mm. I generally use the 135 for film projects, and I rarely crack it out for photography. After spending the day having fun with it, I realized I’ve been missing out by not using it more often. Here are the results:
