Shawn Lovering is a writer, director, and cinematographer.
Born and raised in Canada, Shawn Lovering is a Los Angeles based writer/director working across a variety of mediums. His recent focus has been a shift towards narrative content, utilizing his skills behind the camera and in post-production. In 2018 he edited the short film BLUE (dir. Ashley Eakin) which debuted at the LA Shorts Festival. In 2019 he joined the camera team as an operator on the ROKU production SURVIVE (dir. Mark Pellington) starring Sophie Turner and Corey Hawkins. His short film ‘IS THIS HOUSE A HOME’ screened at the 2020 AGH Film Fest, Milton Film Festival, and was semi-finalist at the 2020 Flickers Rhode Island Film Festival. Shawn’s short EXPECTATIONS was a finalist in the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge and nominated for best editing. The film also screened at New Filmmakers LA, Portland Film Festival, and Heartland International Film Festival. In 2020 Shawn co-wrote the Netflix short film ‘FORGIVE US OUR TRESPASSES, a WW2 thriller set for release in February 2022. In 2021 Shawn edited the short ROOMMATES (dir. Ashley Eakin) which debuted at SXSW 2022 and was produced by Powderkeg Media. Shawn is currently writing a feature screenplay for Wayfarer Studios with his wife and co-writer Ashley Eakin. Shawn and Ashley are also in development of a feature screenplay with Netflix.
For 10 years Shawn has also produced content through his boutique production company, Wild and Light. Whether he’s directing a team, operating the camera, or editing, Shawn immerses himself in every project employing a journalistic approach. His previous experience and education as a social service worker lends a layer of depth and intimacy to his storytelling. Shawn has traveled throughout North America in search of stories for commercial clients big and small.
